Scene Study
Scene Study is the foundation of an actor’s craft—a place to test, refine, and deepen performance skills through applied work with a scene partner. This class follows the same rigorous, technique-driven approach that has shaped my own career, incorporating a range of acting methods and exercises to help actors build their instincts, emotional depth, and scene work proficiency.
Actors will explore challenging material primarily from theatre, where the heightened language and layered subtext demand a full-bodied, truthful performance. The process includes script analysis, emotional preparation, character development, and partner connection, with exercises designed to expand physical and vocal expression. Repetition, exploration, and feedback are key elements, ensuring actors are continually growing and refining their craft.
The course culminates in a monthly final performance, where actors present fully developed scenes, applying the techniques and discoveries made throughout the class. This structured yet exploratory environment mirrors the training that has shaped generations of great actors—giving students the tools to deliver compelling, professional-level work in auditions, rehearsals, and performance.
